Our "Adventure"

Alan's adventure last Friday was just that, an adventure. We ended up leaving about 30 minutes later than we wanted and that was pretty much the theme for the whole day. Alan was real whiney for about the first 30 minutes of the trip. When we stopped for breakfast at McDonald's, we had a talk in the restroom and that seemed to do the trick.

We finally got to McWane Center about 10ish. I didn't get any pictures because the batteries were dead in the camera (NEVER EVER use Rayovac.....) and their gift center does not sell batteries. Yes, I know... very strange! Poppy, Alan and I played on the first floor. I think we all were a little overwhelmed. Then we go to the water exhibit and Alan disappears. Yes, disappears.... there is only 1 way in and 1 way out....... My dad and I couldn't find him. I contacted security and he was up at the ticket booth. Supposedly somebody from security saw him and took him to the ticket booth. Umm, hello, don't they look around to see if there is a parent frantically looking for their child!?!?!?! Needless to say, that set off a 3 day migraine. We leave there at 11:15 because I was over it by that time, and head to Chuck E. Cheese.

Lo and behold, there's an accident on the interstate, so we have to take a detour. Then on the detour, we have to wait for a train. Well.... we got tired of waiting for the train and go back the way we came. As we are passing by where we would have come out if we had waited on the train, the last train car has passed..... We finally make it to Chuck E Cheese at noon. 45 friggin minutes to go about 10 miles away.

Chuck E. Cheese was pretty good. I really like their security system. Each parent and child is stamped with a number that can only be seen under a blacklight. They check that before you leave. That's what the McWane Center needs to do!! Alan had a good time, but he was too polite and several kids cut in front of him, etc and he didn't get to use all of his tokens. I guess we will use the tokens on our next trip in November.

Alan's asthma appointment went well. The doc mentioned Alan "might" be starting to grow out of his asthma. We are to go back on the singulair and do our breathing treatments at the first sign of any coughing. If we have to do any steroids during the 3 months, then we have to do breathing treatments daily.

We got out of our appoint within 2 hours which is really a record for Children's hospital and we were late.... and guess what, yep, another wreck on the interstate. So, we detoured again (TG for GPS!! Plus Poppy is familiar with Bham) and then got back I65.... go a 1/2 mile and traffic stops again.....so, we finally gave up and drove on 31 to Alabaster. At least Alan did nap on the way home. :)

We finally got home a little after 6. We go in, get Alan in clean clothes... cheeto's and white shorts, not a great combo. Head back out the door for the baseball game. We had a great time with Gail, Dale and Dakota. THANKS FOR THE TICKETS!! Gail's brother-in-law was also there with her nephews Alex and Chase. Man, was it hot..... sad when 3 beers don't cool you down.......
